Innovative Economy Programme

The Programme “INNOWACYJNA GOSPODARKA” aims at supporting innovativeness in its broad sense. This aid comprises both direct support for entrepreneurs, business support institutions and scientific entities providing entrepreneurs with high quality services, and systemic support, ensuring development of institutional environment of innovative enterprises.

Under the Programme, the supported activities will be those within the scope of product, process, marketing and organizational innovativeness and which directly or indirectly contribute to establishing and development of innovative enterprises.

Support under the Programme will be granted irrespectively of sector or branch it relates to (taking into account limitation caused by the scope of interventions of ERDF and regulations concerning public aid). Support of the Programme will not apply to innovativeness at the local or regional level. This kind of innovativeness will be promoted and supported within Regional Operational Programmes and Operational Programme Development of Eastern Poland. Projects which are innovative at least at the national or international level will be granted support within the Programme.

Objectives of the Programme

The overall objective of the Programme Innovative Economy 2007-2013 is the development of Polish economy based on innovative enterprises. This objective will be achieved through implementation of the following specific objectives:

  • Improvement of innovativeness of enterprises
  • Improvement of competitiveness of Polish science
  • Strengthening of the role of science in economic development
  • Increasing the share of innovative products of the Polish economy in the international market
  • Creation of permanent and better workplaces
  • Growth of the use of information and communication technologies in the economy

The overall objective of the Programme meets the goals set by the fundamental medium-term strategic document of the European Union – the Lisbon Strategy which was renewed in 2005. The main principles of the Lisbon Strategy comprise economic growth and employment, while fully complying with the objectives of sustainable development and Community Strategic Guidelines.

These objectives are implemented under the Programme through designation of 90% of the financial allocation to measures in the following areas: research and development (R&D), innovations, information and communication technologies. Therefore, the Programme Innovative Economy is compliant with the implementation of Lisbon Strategy to the greatest extent.
